Day 1 Selingan Turtle Island

Pick up from hotels (Sabah Hotel or Sandakan Hotel) within Sandakan at 0800/0815 hrs or Sandakan Airport (BKI-SDK Malaysia Airlines MH2042 07:25/08:05 or AirAsia AK6080 07:05/07:50). Transfer to the jetty for boat ride to Selingan Turtle Islands Park. The journey to Island will take approximately 45 minutes to one hour, depending on sea condition. Upon arrival, register at the Parks HQ and check into chalet. At 1200 hrs, lunch at cafeteria and then free at own leisure. The chalets have facilities for swimming or snorkeling (snorkeling gear available for hire at a surcharge).

After dinner, wait for rangers call to observe turtle laying eggs. Transfer the eggs to the hatchery and opportunity to observe the release of baby turtles to the open sea. This island is a park conservation area since 1977. Overnight at chalet.

Day 2 Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre / Next Destination (Breakfast, Lunch) At 0700 hrs, depart island to Sandakan. After breakfast, transfer to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center. At this world renowned center, come face to face with human's closest relative, the Orang Utans. Orang Utans share 97% of the same DNA as humans. The Orang Utans feeding time is at 1000 hrs. Also experience a walk in the tropical lowland dipterocarp forest. While Orangutan rehabilitation is still the primary goal at Sepilok, present aims include public education on conservation, research and assistance to other endangered species such as captive breeding of the rare and endangered rhinoceros. At 1100hrs, depart Sepilok for a brief Sandakan Sightseeing which may include a visit to one of the following highlights: - Sandakan Memorial Park Located within the suburb of Taman Rimba, the site of a notorious WWII prisoner-of-war camp is about 11km outside of Sandakan. The park, which includes a small museum, is a memorial to the thousands of Australian and British who lost their lives during the Japanese occupation. The rusting remains of an excavator, a generator and a boiler lie in their original positions, near steps leading up to a small Commemorative Pavilion. Buddhist Temple "Puh Jih Syh" Situated on the hilltop with a commanding view of Sandakan bay, built in 1987, this ornate temple is blazed with red and gold, with writhing dragons and gold gilded Buddha. It is said that the temple protects and brings prosperity to Sandakan community. Water Village Central Market
